It’s 1918 on the border between Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Sunday school, hymns, and threats of shunning disturb a fragile peace between the Pennsylvania Old Order and the more progressive “Marylanders.”
And with family on both sides of the border, Clara Kuhn is caught in the middle of it all. And will she be able to bring herself to give Andrew a straight answer about their future?
Official release day was yesterday!
My characters are fictional, but they face the struggles we know real people faced in the historical circumstances.
In Meek and Mild, I look at the circumstances that led to break-off of the Beachy Amish, who eventually became more progressive than the Old Order. Because the district that experienced this break spanned the Pennsylvania-Maryland border, family members on both sides were caught up in divisive opinions and consequences.

I love reading and learning about the Amish history. It might be because they live so differently than we do, but they are living right in the middle of it. Choosing to deny it for their religion and beliefs.
I love reading and learning about the Amish. I haven’t read one of your books yet, but just found you on audible.com. I would love to win one of your books.
Your Amish Turns of time series started out incredibly! Looking forward to reading this next book however soon or far away that may be! Beautiful cover!!

You are absolutely one of my favorite authors! I have all of your books so far in my library at home and would love to add this one to it. I cannot wait to read it. Keep the good books coming!
Cynthia, well, aren’t you delightful. Thanks for being so avid about my books.
I loved Wonderful Lonesome, so I’d love to read the next installment in the series. I love how you’ve taken a different approach from so many Amish novels and tell the lesser known historical account of the Amish cultures.
Thanks, Amy. That’s a good word of encouragement!
I enjoy reading Olivia Newport’s books. I love how she has so many characters in each book. It is fun to follow each character. The Amish lifestyle is so fascinating. I love how she makes so interesting. I am just now finishing the third book in The Avenue of Dreams Series. Historical fiction based out of Chicago. I loved the books because I live in the Northwest Suburbs and are familiar with the areas she has in her books.
Linda, where do you live? I grew up in the northwest ‘burbs.
I love the simple lifestyle of the Amish and their devotion to God and Family.
I Love reading Amish history. I get to learn some interesting info on how the Amish have changed throughout history.
Keep up the wonderful writing!

I just finished Wonderful Lonesome and it struck such an emotional and spiritual chord in me that I was just bowled over. Aptly titled because it was truly wonderful – WONDERFUL in every way. Thank you for your generous offer.
I love Amish reading in any way shape or form. I always have one in my hand all the time when I am reading. If I run out I am sad until I get another one. I am sharing. Thank you and God Bless You.
