I was out to coffee with my friend Sonja last week. I had the pleasure of signing and giving her a copy of The Pursuit of Lucy Banning, which is just about to release. She had read the book in manuscript form a few months back. She asked, “When does the next book come out?”
I stammered around the answer and finally admitted I had to consult the handwritten index card stuck up on my desk before I could answer.
It’s true. I get confused. First, I have two series going. The Avenue of Dreams series is set in 1893 Chicago. The Valley of Choice series is set in contemporary Colorado, with an intertwining historical story line. Was she asking about the next book in this series that Lucy Banning launches, or the next book on the calendar?
My cheat sheet is crumpled and scratched out for various reasons. Publishers don’t always set release dates in stone. And sometimes I operate from memory that differs from fact. (Oh come on, don’t act like that never happens to you.)
Anyway, I’m getting this question more and more, so here is the information as far as I know it, but remember, it could still change.
The Avenue of Dreams series launches May 1, with The Pursuit of Lucy Banning. The Dilemma of Charlotte Farrow is slated for January 2013 (already available for preorder), and the third in the series, as yet untitled, for September 2013.
The Valley of Choice series launches in October with Accidentally Amish. The second volume will follow around June of 2013 and the third at the end of that year.
So make your own cheat sheet—or just check back here for the latest information. To all the anxious readers who asked, “When is your next book coming out?”—thanks for asking. I love feeling the enthusiasm!
I’m so very excited for you, Olivia! Release after release following hard work and dedication. Congratulations!
Thanks, Donna. It is an exciting time! Crazy busy, but exciting.
I second Donna’s comment! I’m going to give away THE PURSUIT OF LUCY BANNING as my Blog’s “May Free Book”. It’s one of those novels that just pulls you into the story and makes you wish for more!
Thanks, Sue, for your enthusiasm. So far it’s been exciting to get reaction from early readers!
